After being involved in a scooter crash near Olbia in Italy, George Clooney was spotted walking unassisted at the airport in Rome.

According to a report by ET Online, Clooney who is shooting for Hulu series Catch-22 was seen walking cautiously through the small airport on Monday.

The 57-year-old actor was hurt after being involved in a traffic collision. According to Italian authorities, Clooney was riding his scooter at 60 mph when a Mercedes hit him and he was thrown about 20ft in the air.

The CCTV footage of the incident showed that Clooney was badly hurt and he was struggling on the ground in the middle of traffic.

“He is recovering at his home and will be fine,” Clooney spokesman Stan Rosenfield had said The Associated Press in an email.

In other news, Clooney is world number 2 on the list of highest-paid entertainers compiled by Forbes magazine. 

Oscar-winning star earned an estimated $239 million after selling the Casamigos tequila company he co-founded to British spirits company Diageo in June 2017. Forbes said the sale gave Clooney the best annual earnings of his 35-year career in film and television.

Forbes compiled its 2018 list estimating pre-tax earnings from June 2017-June 2018, before deducting fees for managers, based on data from Nielsen, touring trade publication Pollstar, movie database IMDB, and interviews with industry experts and celebrities themselves.

Boxer Floyd Mayweather tops the list with  $285 million in earnings. Reality TV star Kylie Jenner is in the third position followed by Judy Sheindlin and Dwayne Johnson to round up the top five.

The Madras high court on Tuesday sought to know why a CBI probe should not be ordered into the allegations of disproportionate assets against known sources of income of Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam.

Hearing a petition filed by DMK organising secretary and Rajya Sabha MP RS Bharathi seeking a CBI probe into the disproportionate asset of Panneerselvam, Justice G Jayachandran directed the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to explain by July 23 as to why no probe had been initiated even after three months of a complaint making such allegations against Panneerselvam. 

In his petition, Bharathi said that though he had filed a complaint seeking a probe into amassment of wealth by Mr Panneerselvam and his family members to the DVAC on March 10 this year, the DVAC had not taken any action on it. Referring to the election affidavit filed of Panneerselvam in 2016, he alleged that he has understated is income as Rs 5.80 lakh in 2014-15 as against the income of Rs 6.60 lakh he received as a basic salary for an MLA. He said that AIADMK leader had brought a Toyota Innova car worth Rs 17.85 lakh during the same period. He said that Panneerselvam also did not declare one acre of land inherited by him from his father in the election affidavit of 2011 and 2016. 

DMK leader also alleged that the value of the properties owned by Panneerselvam’s wife Vijayalakshmi has increased to Rs 78 crore in 2016 from 24.20 crore in2011 even though she “is a housewife and had no source of income raises a doubt about the source of acquiring the properties.” “Panneerselvam’s children Raveendranath, Jayapradeep and Kavitha Banu are directors of various companies. The sources of their huge investments in these companies remain unexplained and deserve closer scrutiny. They have made investments of more than Rs 200 crore in companies engaged in the myriad range of activities not only in India but also in the US, Turkey, Indonesia and Malaysia,” he said in his petition. 

Bharathi said that Panneerselvam has amassed wealth and invested the same in companies and properties either in his name or in the name of his benamis by abusing his power. He has also made a false declaration before income tax authorities and election officials. “He has thus rendered himself liable under the Income Tax Act, Representation of People Act, Indian Penal Code, Prohibition of Benami Transactions Act, Prevention of Money Laundering Act and the Prevention of Corruption Act,” Bharathi added.

She had told the producer to replace her

The actress was playing a grandmother in Nimki Mukhiya, but wasn’t shooting for it since the past 20 days. Producer Zama Habib says, “Ritaji went through surgery twice, but it did not help her. Her health deteriorated and the evening before she breathed her last, we were told that her chances of survival were slim. And by late night, she passed away. We already had cancelled our shoot for another reason. She was a gem of a person to work with. She was such a professional that she requested me to replace her, but I had promised her that I will wait for her. I didn’t know she will never come back. May God bless her soul.”

An evening with Ritaji

Rubina Dilaik who worked with her in Chhoti Bahu regrets not meeting her in the last one-and-a-half year. “We (the Chhoti Bahu team) had made a group ‘An evening with Ritaji’ through which we were co-ordinating about meeting her for dinner. Now, we have dismantled it with regret. Kaash aakhri baar hum mil paate,” rues Rubina. Nevertheless, she has fond memories of the actress. “Ritaji was a beautiful soul, a warm-hearted woman and a thorough professional. It was my first show with her and I learnt so much from her. Even at her age, it was commendable to see her reporting sharp at the call-time. She was always smiling, and a great spirit to work with, a guiding light for all of us. And, of course, the dhoklas she would make and bring once every month on the sets, were the best I have ever eaten,” recalls Rubina.

An actress who did not get her due

Writer-director Aatish Kapadia wrote his first ever script for a Gujarati serial Agantuk in which Rita was the main lead. “I was only 19-and-a-half and this cocky newcomer. Ritaji was a darling, a sweet lady, she told me ‘You better write nicely for me’. When the shooting began, she told me I lived up to the promise. After that I worked with her in Ek Mahal Ho Sapnon Ka Khichdi and Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai,” says Aatish. He describes her as a gregarious person who lived life on her own terms. “We used to crack jokes and even share a drink. We would talk about world cinema. She was one actress who did not get her due,” he says. 

A Gujarati superstar

For producer-actor JD Majethia, who did two shows with her, Khichdi and Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, she was a superstar of Gujarati cinema. “In Khichdi, she played my mother and in Sarabhai.. she played Satish Shah’s sister. She was very professional, a no-nonsense person who was easy to work with. Being a Gujarati, the atmosphere would be mazedaar, with all khana peena etc. We will really miss her,” he says.

Even before the movie, many new-age brides had been following the trend " if not for the wedding ceremony itself, but for another function, or just to add a heirloom to her trousseau collection. This is done by revamping the garment and transferring the original work. We asked some city-based designers on how they reuse older works and the kind of requests they get from clients. 

ENVIRONMENT & POCKET-FRIENDLY

Kusum and Karishma Luharuwala, of Label Faabiiana share with AFTERhrs, “Bridal lehenga is usually the most expensive attire of your wedding and it can be reused in a lot of ways. For example, make an anarkali from your used lehenga or use the blouse with another saree. Also if it’s torn or ripped off, patches can be used to make short dresses or a hair band, bag and other  accessories.” She adds, “We get inquiries by clients on how can their old real zari sarees be reused. First of all, it is environmental-friendly and secondly, pocket-friendly too. It keeps those memories from the treasure trove of your grandmother or mother intact. So it can be used by transferring the patch work on to a new saree or a half-half saree can be created with those age-old beautiful dupattas. Even old sarees can be transferred to create a contemporary and chic look.”

THE ‘ROYAL’ OUTFITS 

The trend of using older works is not entirely new. Mostly, it is to reuse the original silver and gold that have been put to use in bridal outfits, such as rajputi poshaaks. Many city designers have been putting those works to use again in their outfits. Designer Aruna Singh explains, “We transfer the work usually when people have original silver or gold work in their outfits, so that they can proudly say that it is made of silver! But, since the fabric gets spoiled, we need to transfer the whole work by tracing it.” She adds, “At the same time, we also need to check the originality of the old work. Usually, it is people from royal families who don’t wish to put their old heavy outfits to waste and get the work transferred.” 

“It is like an add-on to the trousseau collection, like re-using your grandmother’s bridal outfit, to preserve her memories,” Singh explains. However, it is not an easy task, and at times, over expensive too. “Sometimes, these old outfits are extremely beautiful, and end up brightening your trousseau to a whole new level,” she expresses. 

Designer Geeta Chauhan too gets lots of requests of this kind where clients request old poshaak work to be tranferred into a saree or a poshaak. She explains, “I recently did a 70-80 year old poshaak for a royal family. It was made of original tissue that had silver sequins and polish " into a new poshaak. I arranged for a material of the same kind, and got this work transferred onto it, which indeed took a lot of effort and time.” 

REUSE & REDESIGN

According to Pallavi Jaipur, usually the requests they receive are not for the main wedding outfit. “We usually get requests to use an old saree " these days we are getting quite a lot of Benarasi sarees to be redone. It is important to redo the entire work as well on the silhouette. Brocades too are pretty common, in terms of reusing,” she added. 

Designer Puja Arya also has done work where old brocade was used into her pret line. “We have reused and redesigned them into blouses, etc. We have also used some amount of gota from an old piece into new pieces,” she says. She adds further that usually such demands come during the wedding season or winters.

NO NEED TO REPEAT!

Celebrity stylist Shreya Juneja says, “Usually we don’t repeat our bridal outfit, but there are ways in which we can wear them differently. We can always wear our mom’s saree, in a different and quirky way -- by pairing it with a sexy cut blouse. Also, pairing a dupatta with a plain palazzo and crop top is the perfect way to bring that heavy dupatta to use in a smart way. One can also take a saree and wrap it around along with pants and top " which is quite a lot in trend lately and being done by many designers.” She adds, “The bridal lehenga usually has pretty work, one can take just the skirt and add a simple blouse and rock it in a completely different way. The dupatta of the bridal lehenga can actually be styled in many ways!”

Arjun Tendulkar, son of arguably one of the greatest batsmen some of whose unique records are tipped to live down the ages, on Tuesday made his much-anticipated international debut on a ground identified by its unique name.

Sachin Tendulkar's 18-year-old son announced his arrival in the international arena with a wicket in his first 12 balls for India U-19, and the significance of the game was not lost on the cricket fraternity.

The focus was on Arjun's debut as India's U-19 team dominated its counterparts from Sri Lanka on the opening day of the first Youth Test at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground.

Tendulkar junior, whose father made his senior India debut at the age of 16 back in 1989, needed only 12 balls to claim his maiden wicket, trapping Sri Lanka U-19 opener Kamil Mishara.

Arjun who started the proceedings with the ball for India U19 took the wicket in his second over after trapping Mishara in front of the stumps. Left-arm pacer Tendulkar bowled an inswinging length delivery and the left-handed Mishra failed to read the line of the ball and got out for 9.

The India U19 side then rode on four-wicket hauls from Harsh Tyagi and Ayush Badoni to wrap up Sri Lanka's first innings for 244.

Unlike his legendary father, who was widely regarded as one of the best batsmen of all time, the 18-year-old Arjun is a left-arm pacer and a handy lower-order batsman.

He was part of Mumbai's Under-19 squad in the Cooch Behar Trophy last season where he picked up two five-wicket hauls and a four-wicket haul. He returned with 18 wickets overall with an average of 25.22 for Mumbai. Both his five-wicket hauls included the wickets of the opposition's top four batsmen.

Arjun's all-round abilities also caught the eye during Cricket Club of India's tour to Australia last year, where his presence in the tournament attracted quite a bit of media attention.

Arjun didn't strike again in the innings and returned with figures of 1/33 in 11 overs.

For the Lankans, Pasindu Sooriyabandara top-scored with 69, while Nishan Madushka, Nipun Dananjaya and ST Mendis got out for an identical score of 39.

At stumps on the first day, India U-19 were strongly placed at 92 for one.

After watching Arjun taking his maiden scalp in international cricket, former India cricketer and Sachin Tendulkar's childhood friend Vinod Kambli took to Twitter and posted an emotional message.

India are scheduled to play two Youth Test matches and five ODIs.

The second Youth Test will begin from July 24 in Hambantota while the ODIs begin from July 30 in Colombo and will be played till August 10.

Taron Egerton plays the vigilante from the folklore's, Robin Hood, in the new movie directed by Otto Bathurst. Lionsgate released the second trailer for the movie on Tuesday and Jamie Foxx's character, Little John, turns into Mr Miyagi to teach Robin of Loxley how to steal, how to be quick, and how to work the bow and arrow.

The fast-paced trailer begins with  Robin missing his targets and Little John appealing to his anger to help him concentrate. We see Robin pick up the tricks very quickly. But the disadvantage of this efficiency is that Sheriff of Nottingham, played by Ben Mendelsohn, notices these robberies and now wants Robin Hood dead. 

In a matter of moments, the plan to take down the Sheriff turns into a medieval heist in which we see old-timey casinos and Robin Hood conjuring the magic of Parkour to escape. The heist then mounts to a full-blown revolution against the Sheriff.

Yvonne Blake, the costume designer behind films including 1978 box-office hit Superman and 1973's Jesus Christ Superstar, has died. She was 78.

The British-born Spanish designer had suffered a stroke earlier this year, according to The Spanish Film Academy, where she previously served as President.

Blake was elected president of the organisation in July 2016, three months after her predecessor Antonio Resines resigned over irreconcilable differences with the board.

She designed the costumes for productions such as Fahrenheit 451 and won an Oscar for Best Costume Design for Franklin J Shaffner's period drama Nicholas and Alexandra in 1971.

Her credits include films such as Robin and Marian (1976), starring Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn; the 1976 war film The Eagle Has Landed, and Milos Forman's Goya's Ghost (2006).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Richard Donner's Superman brought her the most recognition, for which she adapted the comic book design of the superhero costume, played by Christopher Reeve on the celluloid.

In her original design sketch made before Reeve was cast in the role, Blake's annotations read: "Leotard in shimmering blue two-way stretch fabric worn over false muscles & harness for flying. Capes to be made in various flowing fashion for resting. Boots in glove leather or elastic with small heel. 'S' motif in red & gold on breast & again in all gold on back of cape. Gold metal belt with 'S' buckle." She wanted to focus on making a practical costume for Reeve while also balancing its authenticity to her audience.

"It was a question of reproducing what looked like a pretty silly costume into one that could be worn by an actor that would look attractive and believable to Superman fans.

"It was important that the tight and shorts did not look like ballet dancers, so the problem of lumps and bumps was solved by wearing a plastic protection shield normally used by boxers," she said.

Blake also designed Marlon Brando's glowy Jor-El costume for the movie.

She returned for Richard Lester's Superman II (1980).

Blake has worked with directors including Fran ois Truffaut, Paul Verhoeven and Peter Bogdanovich as well as actors including Michael Caine, Omar Shariff, Lawrence Olivier, Gene Hackman and Charlton Heston.

The current president of the Spanish Film Academy, Mariano Barroso, remembered Blake.

"I met Yvonne when she called me to accompany her in the presidency of the institution. I witnessed her enormous generosity, her passion and her dedication, and at her age she chose to work for all of us, she took the Academy in difficult times and her work has been decisive for the new stage of modernization that we are experiencing," he said in a statement.

 Arsenal made their best signing of the transfer window when they appointed Spaniard Unai Emery as their new manager, the Premier League club's former winger Robert Pires has said.

The north London outfit chose Emery, a former Sevilla and Paris St Germain boss, to succeed long-serving manager Arsene Wenger in May and the 46-year-old has already signed five new players as he overhauls the squad. "The best signing for me is Unai Emery, the manager. Of course I believe in the players, and especially the new players," Pires, who played under Wenger for six years between 2000-06, told Sky Sports News.

Tesla CEO Musk issued the apology today to Vernon Unsworth, who worked on the rescue of the "Wild Boars" football team and had dismissed Musk's plan to recover the trapped group using a miniature submarine.
"(H)is actions against me do not justify my actions against him, and for that I apologize to Mr Unsworth and to the companies I represent as leader," Musk wrote on Twitter. "The fault is mine and mine alone." "Pedo" is short for paedophile. 

Earlier he was considering taking legal action against Tesla boss Elon Musk after the entrepreneur called him a ‘pedo’ on social media. Musk had launched the Twitter rant against Briton Vernon Unsworth after the cave expert slammed his offer of a miniature submarine to extract the footballers from the Tham Luang cave as a "PR stunt".

Last week, a group of 12 football players and their coach were rescued by an international team of divers through a narrow network of twisting, flooded tunnels.According to Unsworth, who provided mapping knowledge of the cave to rescuers, said Musk's prototype would have had ‘absolutely no chance of working’. “He can stick the submarine where it hurts,” Unsworth had said in an interview.Musk responded Sunday in a bizarre series of tweets referring to Unsworth, without using his name, as "pedo guy". The tweets, however, were deleted later.

 Scientists have discovered twelve new moons orbiting Jupiter, bringing the total number of natural satellites circling around the king of planets to a whopping 79. The findings include 11 "normal" outer moons, and one that scientists call an "oddball." Researchers, led by Scott S Sheppard from Carnegie Institution for Science in the US, first spotted the moons in last year while they were looking for a possible massive planet far beyond Pluto.

"Jupiter just happened to be in the sky near the search fields where we were looking for extremely distant Solar System objects, so we were serendipitously able to look for new moons around Jupiter while at the same time looking for planets at the fringes of our Solar System," said Sheppard. "It takes several observations to confirm an object actually orbits around Jupiter. So, the whole process took a year," said Gareth Williams from the International Astronomical Union.

Nine of the new moons are part of a distant outer swarm of moons that orbit it in the retrograde, or opposite direction of Jupiter's spin rotation. These distant retrograde moons are grouped into at least three distinct orbital groupings and are thought to be the remnants of three once-larger parent bodies that broke apart during collisions with asteroids, comets, or other moons. The newly discovered retrograde moons take about two years to orbit Jupiter.

Two of the new discoveries are part of a closer, inner group of moons that orbit in the prograde, or same direction as the planet's rotation. These inner prograde moons all have similar orbital distances and angles of inclinations around Jupiter and so are thought to also be fragments of a larger moon that was broken apart.These two newly discovered moons take a little less than a year to travel around Jupiter."Our other discovery is a real oddball and has an orbit like no other known Jovian moon. It's also likely Jupiter's smallest known moon, being less than one kilometer in diameter," Sheppard explained.

This new "oddball" moon is more distant and more inclined than the prograde group of moons and takes about one and a half years to orbit Jupiter. So, unlike the closer-in prograde group of moons, this new oddball prograde moon has an orbit that crosses the outer retrograde moons. As a result, head-on collisions are much more likely to occur between the "oddball" prograde and the retrograde moons, which are moving in opposite directions.
"This is an unstable situation. Head-on collisions would quickly break apart and grind the objects down to dust," said Sheppard.

It's possible the various orbital moon groupings we see today were formed in the distant past through this exact mechanism.The team think this small "oddball" prograde moon could be the last-remaining remnant of a once-larger prograde-orbiting moon that formed some of the retrograde moon groupings during past head-on collisions. The name Valetudo has been proposed for it, after the Roman god Jupiter's great-granddaughter, the goddess of health and hygiene.

 Andres Iniesta could make his J.League debut at the weekend when his new club Vissel Kobe host Shonan Bellmare, the Spaniard said after arriving in Japan on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old spent 16 years at Barcelona, where he won nine La Liga titles, four Champions League crowns and six King's Cups, before signing for Kobe in May.Kobe officials said Iniesta would join up with his new team mates for training on Friday before Sunday's match, Kyodo news agency reported. "It was a long trip but I had been looking forward to coming to Japan. I'm excited to play with my Vissel team mates," Kyodo quoted Iniesta as saying after his arrival at Kansai airport, where he was greeted by 300 fans.

"I want to play as soon as possible. I'll get in top condition for Sunday, and I hope to show the fans great play." Iniesta will link up with former German international Lukas Podolski at Kobe and will wear his familiar number eight jersey. He will try to help Kobe, currently sixth in the league after 15 games, win a first Japanese championship. The club's highest finish was seventh in 2016. Iniesta, who scored the winning goal in the 2010 World Cup final, called time on his international career after Spain's surprise defeat to hosts Russia at the World Cup earlier this month.

Mouni Roy is flying high as the star has bagged another new role in Bollywood film opposite Rajkummar Rao. The television actress will be seen playing the role of Rao's wife in the movie titled 'Made in China'.
