Judicial inquiry into Alwar lynching ordered

While admitting to custodial death of Rakbar Khan, the victim of lynching in Alwar, home minister Gulab Chand Kataria announced a judicial inquiry into the entire episode.  

Kataria visited the spot where the unfortunate episode took place in Ramgarh, Alwar on Tuesday noon. He was accompanied by the director general of police OP Galhotra and additional chief secretary Shailendra Agarwal who holds the charge of home department. 

Kataria announced a compensation of Rs 1.25 lakh to the victim’s kin who were waiting for him at the circuit house in Alwar.  The Haryana government also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh as the deceased and his family hails from the neighbouring state. 

“I have met the family members today and shall meet them again if there they are in any need,” Kataria said. He said that the ACJM Ramgarh has been asked to inquire into Rakbar’s death.

The victim’s father Suleman said he wanted justice for his son. His brother Harun claimed the family was not communicated the decision of compensation by the government, but got to know from secondary sources.
