Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan looked like a golden goddess as she turned showstopper for Falguni and Shane Peacock’s debut show at the ongoing India Couture Week 2018 in Delhi.
The begum closed Day 2 on a high note as she walked down the ramp for the designer-duo in a heavily-embellished A-line golden lehenga from their collection called Amour De Junagarh. It weighed approxiamtely 30 kilograms!
The collection featured a fusion between the queen of the French capital and the royal palace of Junagarh - Rajasthan's cultural jewel.
“We have drawn our inspiration from a tale in which a Parisian queen is invited to the resplendent Junagarh Palace in Rajasthan, which is known for its meticulous architecture and grandeur. A mela (local carnival) is orchestrated in the honour of the queen, who is left mesmerised by the majestic and royal nature of the occasion,” the designers told Hindustan Times in an interview, before their show.
Kareena showstopping lehenga comprised a crystal work embedded A-line lehenga, a matching full-sleeve blouse with a plunging neckline and a nude glittering dupatta that featured the designer duo’s signature feather twist.
While addressing the media in Delhi, Kareena said that she felt like a shining star in the golden ensemble. She also revealed that if it wasn't for Falguni and Shane Peacock, she wouldn't have ever worn such a heavy ensemble. “I have walked the ramp for about 10 years and more, but this is the first time I am wearing an outfit that weighs 30 kgs and if weren’t for Falguni and Shane, I wouldn’t have done this,” she said.
While speaking about the collection, the 'Veere Di Wedding' actor said, “When you talk about couture in India, the first name that comes to your mind is that of Shane and Falguni. Whether it is for their cuts for the gowns, lehengas or the fact that they mix Indian and Western so well is what sets them apart.”
Kareena says although she feels nervous each time she has to walk the ramp, she never follows any pre-runway rituals. “No one believes me but I am really nervous; that is because I come across as a very confident girl, but actually ramp is the only thing that makes nervous in life.”
Shimmery, dewy makeup and hair swept side ways in soft curls rounded off Begum's look.
“When you are wearing such a gorgeous outfit it gives you that confidence, it makes you look beautiful and you just sashay down the ramp,” Kareena added.
