Rajkummar Rao is one of the most talented actors in Hindi cinema today. His roles in movies like Shahid, Aligarh, Trapped and CityLights have garnered him massive critical praise and audience appeal. Currently, the actor is gearing up for the release of multiple films, including Fanney Khan, Stree and5 Weddings. But, despite all this, he doesn't feel like a 'hero'.

At the trailer launch for his movie Stree, Rajkummar Rao was asked whether he has finally started feeling like a 'hero' after having featured in so many films and winning awards. To that, he responded, "I don’t know how a hero feels honestly. I feel like an actor and I wanted to be an actor. I always wanted to feel like an actor and I don’t understand the term quintessential hero of Hindi films.”

He elaborated furhter on his concept of 'heroes', stating, "There are people who approach me for a film telling me that it’s a typical hero film but I always insist them to address the characters with their names. What is a hero? We are not heroes.. heroes are people who are fighting for us on borders. We are just doing our job that’s it”. That last part pretty much won the day for him.

He was then asked whether he felt like the definition of a Hindi film hero has changed over the years, to which he replied “I totally agree with that because with the kind of pace cinema is changing at, I feel the definition of a so-called hero is also changing. Therefore, we all see that an actor like Aamir Khan sir plays the character of a 50-year-old father in ‘Dangal’. There is an action genre where you are required to do stunts and show your body, they might be called 'heroes'."

The actor also talked about his work in Stree. “It’s an unusual film where we had so much fun shooting for it. The entire team of this film was living like a family in Chanderi and Bhopal. It’s a small town but we had no complaints as we were just focusing on making a good film." He added “We all are really proud of this film and now I hope the audience will give a lot of support and lave that this film totally deserves.”

Stree is a horror comedy, directed by Amar Kaushik and also starring Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role. It releases in theatres on August 31, 2018.
