Akshay Kumar is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to promoting his new movie Gold. In the movie, Akshay Kumar plays Tapan Das, manager of the Indian hockey team that plays for independent India. Directed by Reema Kagti, the movie celebrates the 70 years of free India's first gold medal in hockey. To promote his movie and to encourage Indian athletes gearing up for Asian Games 2018 set to happen in Indonesia, Akshay Kumar attended a 'send-off' event organised by Indian team's sponsors.
Asian Games 2018 will take place from August 18 to September 2 in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang. A total of 541 athletes from India will be seen participating in 37 sports events.
Athletics will see maximum participation, with a total of 51 players participating in the prestigious tournament. It will be followed by hockey which has 36 players under the category.
In 2014, India won a total of 57 medals, including 11 gold, 10 silver and 36 bronze medals.
