On Wednesday, a special court convicted one of the executive producers of Ek Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera, Mukesh Mishra, to 7 years in prison for raping a female actor. He was also asked to pay Rs 5000 as a penalty. The producer was first booked in 2013 when a complaint was filed against him and now, 5 years later, the case finally comes to an end.
The 31-year old actress shared that Mishra told her to report to Jogeshwari for the shoot on the morning of December 12, 2012. He'd told her that a bus would pick her up. Instead, he himself came by on his bike and picked her up, saying that the bus would be late. He then took her to the set and followed her to the make-up room, where he locked the door and proceeded to rape her.
He threatened to kill her 8-year old daughter when she resisted. She only told her husband about the harassment without revealing more details. When her husband complained to the producers of the show, Mishra was fired, which is when he threatened her even more and told her husband. It was in January of 2013 when she filed a complaint against the producer.
The woman, who deposed in court and identified Mishra, stated that she did not report the matter earlier because she feared the harm it would do to her career and reputation. She said that she ws also scared about her daughter's safety. According to the public prosecutor, the case has been filed and the accused has finally been convicted of rape.
