The state election authorities are in top gear to supervise poll preparations for Rajasthan assembly election slated in the year end.
On Friday, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ashwini Bhagat will hold a video conferencing with district collectors to review poll preparations including drafting of electoral rolls.
As per the schedule released the final draft of rolls must be released on July 31, a deadline set by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
To take review of its progress primarily the conferencing has been scheduled. Status of FLC (first level checking) of EVMs and VVPAT, availability of basic infrastructure at polling booths and planning of SVEEP ( Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) are among the agendas which will be taken up by the CEO with collectors, who are district election officers (DEO).
Next month, a crucial meeting has been scheduled too to take stock of poll preparations.
According to the sources, officials of ECI shall visit the poll bound state from August 9 to August 11 and hold meetings to scan progress of preparations at divisional level with election officials.
It is first time at every booth in Rajasthan votes will be cast through EVM and VVPAT machines altogether. In all 200 assembly constituency the VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) machines with EVMs will be installed in all 52000 booths to conduct election.
The ECI has already released a detailed programme regarding the preparation of voters’ list and mandated issuing final electoral list on September 27 before election that might be held in November or December.
