Shekhawati to soon get Yamuna water

There is a good news for the whole Shekhawati region including Jhunjhunu as the survey has started for bringing Yamuna’s water to the state. A 3-day air survey was carried out for the same in Jhunjhunu district.

Due to the continuous efforts made by Jhunjhunu MP Santosh Ahlawat in the last four years, the project worth Rs 20,000 crore will come to life, which will provide irrigation and drinking water in the region consisting of Churu, Sikar and Jhunjhunu. Ahlawat was in constant contact with Union Minister for Water Nitin Gadkari and CM Vasundhara Raje for this. 

Ahlawat met the Officers of the Water Resources Department and presented the progress report of the work done so far. It has been stated in the report that a 270 km long steel pipes will be installed for bringing Yamuna water to the Shekhawati region. To collect water, a 7 km long and wide pond will be built in Gothia Badi village of Rajgarh tehsil in Churu district.

She said that the officials have assured that the DPR of this Rs 20,000 crore will be deposited to the Union Water Commission by September 15 so that the work can be started soon. Ahlawat added that the survey of the command and reserve areas has been completed. Not only this, the air survey from Havni Kund Bairas to Karnal has already been completed.

Speaking about the usage of Yamuna water, Ahlawat said that so far the government has decided that Rajasthan will get 577 cubic million meters of water. Out of this, 60% water will be used for irrigation purposes and the rest will be provided to the people for drinking. The people of Rajgarh will also be given water for irrigation. Besides, water for irrigation and drinking will be given to the population of Jhunjhunu. Whereas, the people of Sikar will be provided with drinking water only. Ahlawat believes that BJP will be a strong contender for the upcoming elections as they have fulfilled the promises they had made to the people of the state.
