Two died, including a four-year-old boy, while two others were injured after a wall of the basement of an under-construction building collapsed on them in Bahlolpur village, sector 63 of Noida on Friday morning. Police have arrested the contractor of the building while they are trying to nab the owner of the house.
According to the police, the incident took place at around 10 am, when some labourers were working at the construction site.
"According to the information provided by the locals, the wall collapsed on the three workers and a four-year-old boy who was playing at the spot.
"All the four were trapped under the debris. Locals rescued them and rushed to a nearby hospital," said Amit Kumar Singh, SHO, Phase 3 Police station.
Police said the boy Himanshu, was taken to a private hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. One worker identified as Hemraj and Himanshu's parents, Prakash and Kaushalaya were taken to SJM hospital for treatment.
A senior official at SJM Hospital said, "Prakash has received multiple fractures in the lower back and pelvic area. He has lost a lot of blood and is critical while his wife Kaushalaya has suffered a pelvic fracture. Hemraj had severe head injuries and his family decided to shift him to AIIMS on Friday night."
Sources in the hospital revealed that Hemraj died on the way while being taken to AIIMS. However, police officials did not have any details about Hemraj's condition.
Following the incident, police registered an FIR against the unidentified owner of the house and the contractor of the building.
