Partial effect was seen in Jaipur after the truckers in the entire state stopped movement on the call of strike given by All India Motor Congress. The strike began at 6 am on Friday and the trucks which were on road were allowed to reach and unload. After that, there was no movement of trucks.
Its expected that from Saturday, the affect will be seen. The transports claimed that due to the strike, business worth Rs 1500 crore across the state will be affected. The transporters informed that on Friday, no loading was being done and no booking was being taken.
“There is total strike here, the strike started in morning and from Saturday you will get to see the effect,” said Inder Kumar Chaddha, president of Jaipur transport operators association.
Truckers’ key demands include reduction in central and state taxes by getting diesel under the GST so that price of fuel can be reduced apart from other demands. If the strike starts affecting, than there may be shortage in supply of vegetables and fruits in the city.
Rahul Tanwar, president of muhana mandi fruits and vegetables market informed that on Friday, the trucks which were moving since a day before arrived.
However, the effect may be felt in coming days as the loading of trucks was not being done now. “Due to the strike, there will be shortage of fruits and vegetables and it may affect the availability of these to the people,” Tanwar said.
