The newly-made water resources minister in Gujarat government, Kunvarji Bavaliya, was embarrassed during his visit to the flood-hit villages in Una Tehsil on Thursday. The minister was greeted with curses and made to leave immediately when he reached Vasoj village.
Bavaliya had entered several houses to meet the flood victims, but people gathered one of the women started shouting at him and forced him to leave the place.
"You appear only for poll campaign seeking votes, but then never turn up. Can you see our plight? Did you ever come to repair the roads? Your party has been ruling in Gujarat for 22 years but never gave us good roads. We had to build them ourselves," the lady screamed.
Reacting to it, Bavaliya said, "I had gone to visit the flood-affected areas as CM asked me to. Such incidents happen when one dedicates his life to the people. I could see that local Congress MLA has failed to meet with the expectation of his voters, but now I will fulfil that, although I am not local MLA."
The Chief Minister said, "We have asked all the ministers to be in affected areas and Bavaliya also was there. We do not have any concern on how people reacted to Bavaliya's visit, but he was assigned a duty to visit the flood victims and he did is satisfactory."
