BJP spokesperson Dr Bizay Sonkar Shastri demanded President’s rule in West Bengal owing to the attacks on dalits in the state.

“There have been several attacks on dalit members in West Bengal but the government is not doing anything to punish offenders. There is a total law and order failure in the city. We demand President’s Rule should be imposed in West Bengal because that is the only way the Jungle Raj can end here. Dalits in West Bengal had been insulted, ignored and suppressed and there is no other alternative other than a President’s rule to ensure social security and empowerment for them. It will force the TMC to kneel to the power of democracy,” Shastri said on Friday while interacting with mediapersons.

He said that given the number of violent incidents  in the state Chief minister Mamata Banerjee had no right to rule. “There had been no investigation into the killing of several dalits in Bengal,” Shastri added.

Asked about the murders of dalits at other states following trifle reasons, Shastri initially refused to answer but later said, “I will visit other states as well and demand the same there too.”
